FOTD 11.30.11 (15 of 100)

It's been a while since I've done a blog post. Sometimes I'm just really not in the mood (usually about one week out of the month). But I hope to make it up with this FOTD. I'm really pleased with it. I actually did my make up last night and it came out A-MAZING but the pics came out crap lol Isn't that always the way? Even though my make up didn't come up as good today, I think its really good. I hope you think so too.

I recently bought some make up  from Avon and I was really surprised. I really like it a lot. I have bought some things from them in the past and was really unhappy with it. I felt the eyeshadows were really hard and also difficult to use and get any color from but I saw one of their catalogs and they had absolutely gorgeous colors that I couldn't pass up. Plus they were on special. So I order two quads and so far I used one (last night lol) and I love it. The colors are amazing, they shadow it self isn't hard, its nice and creamy and blends well. I'll be using the other palette tomorrow so I'll be sure to get some good pics and post them. I suck at swatching so that's why I usually don't do it but if someone wants to see a swatch just leave a comment and I'll do it.

So, this is my FOTD. A little much for work but I love it.

FOTD 11.7.11 (12/100)

This is actually from the other night. Date night with my hubby.

I had to take these pictures with my phone because my digital camera battery is giving me a hard time. Anyway:

Products:
WnW "We're Blasting Off" trio
Nyx JEP in Milk
NYC Skin Matching foundation
Rimmel Stay Matte powder foundation
Claudia Stevens face primer
L'Oreal extra intense eyeliner - black
E.L.F. lipgloss - Ruby Raspberry
NYC City Curls mascara - extreme black

Sometimes I get the item names wrong, please feel free to correct me. I try to write them down in a small notebook with the date so they're ready for when I do my posts, but on a day like today, when I'm in a little bit of a hurry, I tend to over look things.

Something exciting that I've been thinking about is a giveaway. Not sure what it would be yet. If I can get my hands on the new WnW baked eyeshadows it might be that. If you think that a giveaway is a good idea, leave a comment and follow my blog :)

Mini Haul Nov. 11, 2011

So, this is my mini haul from the past week or so. I have been trying to cut down on my spending. I went to Ulta this weekend and I didn't go crazy. I feel so triumphant! I'm going to England in December so I'm trying to save my major make up spending for that. Anyway, here are the details of my haul:

ULTA
  • Nyx Eye/Eyebrow pencil in 909 Gold
  • LASplash Waterproof Mascara in Fuschia Fushion
  • Ulta Pink Breast Cancer Roll Out with a $10 contribution
Christmas Tree Shop
  • e.l.f. Glitter Gloss in Ruby Raspberry
Walgreens
  •   Jordana Lip Out Loud Super Shiny Gloss (It smells like strawberries...mmmm)
Target
  •   NYC Skin Matching Foundation 686 Light

So that's about it. I used the mascara the other day and I loved it. I was a little skeptical about the wand at first but it worked great. I love the Jordana clear lip gloss because it smells like strawberries, its not super sticky, and I can mix a little gloss with any color pigment to create a new color. I haven't used the foundation yet. I want to experiment with it because I may have an opportunity to do some make up on a few of my friend's clients (she owns a salon) so I want to see how this works. It was relatively cheap so it won't break the bank if I need to buy 3 or 4 (different colors) of them. I haven't used the Nyx liner yet but the color is gorgeous. I have used the e.l.f. lip gloss and I love it. I'm not usually too keen on glitter glosses but I really liked this one. It's not TOO glittery and its not too sticky. And it's kind of sheer so the color isn't overwhelming.

I think that's it. Until next time hehe

I'm not sure when this will happen but I'll keep you up to date with that. And hopefully I'll be able to have some pics of someone other than myself!

Ulta Portfolio Case Make Up Kit (Quick Review)

Ok so here it is. I paid $20 ( I had a $5 off coupon) and for the most  part it was worth it. I love all the colors. The brushes and applicators are pretty useless but I don't care, I have enough of those. The black eyeliner is the best one. The other colors don't have a lot of pigment but they're still useful. The lipgloss and lipstick are all great, I love the colors and the texture and they don't have any fragrance so that's good for me! The lip gloss's in the pans are nice too. Good color as well. I expected them to be pretty sheer but they're not. The blush is nice too, good color payout. It is more powdery than creamy. The eyeshadows in the quads (on the left) are great, nice pigmentation and they're shimmer, which I love. The other shadows are good too. Maybe comparable to like a Wet N Wild, but for some reason I prefer the ones in the quads. I've been having issues with creasing and I don't know if the shadows on the right or if it's the combination of primer/shadow. All I know is that I never had a problem with my primer before.

All in all I probably wouldn't buy this again. I love it now, and I will get lots of use out of it, but I could have gotten something better for my $20.

**Note: I bought this myself with my own money. I was not compensated in any way.***

FOTD 10.18.11 (7/100)

This was the first time I used my home made mixing medium for pigments. I only used it on the gold pigment. I've been having problems with creasing lately, not sure if its the primer (I used a different one today, same problem) or what.
Anyway...here's today's look:

ELF Smokey Eyes (Pic Heavy)

I was at Target and I saw this palette for $5 so of course I couldn't resist.

I used this palette once before I took these pics. The second shadow down on the left broke the second time I used it. As soon as I touched my brush to it, it cracked. I was very disappointed. All of these shadows are super soft. The only thing I really like are the cream liners (3 in a row on the left.)
3 Cream Liners and Eyeliner
I'm glad I swatched the cream liner because I didn't realize there was a blue one. It looked black in the pan.
This is a swatch of the top row with a primer base. (Claudia Stevens primer from Sally's beauty)

I suck at swatching, This is the second row.

Third Row

It's typical of ELF eyeshadows. You definitely need a primer base, you can build on the colors, it's very powdery and soft. I've never had an ELF eyeshadow break before though.

Overall I love the colors and the cream liners so for $5 I would buy this again.

**Note: I bought this myself with my own money**
